It’s 2019, and there’s something about that simple fact that makes the air feel a little bit lighter, the sky look a little bit brighter, and our hearts feel a little bit fuller. It’s an opportunity for regrowth, new experiences, and greater health. Here are a few simple ways to increase your sense of wellness in this new year.

Get more sleep


Sleep gets taken for granted a lot. It is so important for our wellbeing, our sanity, and our health, and yet, we find ourselves staying up far too late, and consequently spending our days exhausted, groggy, and grumpy. That’s no way to live! While you sleep at night, your body literally heals, your cells regenerating. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, your body can’t get that recharge that it desperately needs. So, make it a goal to sleep just a little bit more. Go to bed an hour earlier. Take a midday nap, if needed. Just make sure you’re catching those precious zzz’s.


Remember to take your vitamins everyday


Raise your hand if all of your vitamin and supplement bottles are sitting in your cupboard, half used, and neglected for months? When you are giving your body all of those super important vitamins and minerals, you’re able to function better and live a happier and more productive life. Try setting reminders on your phone to take your vitamins, or leave your bottles out on the counter so you see them when you go to make your coffee in the morning.


Be just a little more active


You don’t have to force yourself into the gym 6 days a week if you are currently living a relatively sedentary lifestyle. Being active doesn’t mean becoming glued to the stairmaster or starting to powerlift. Go on a walk a few days a week. Park farther away when you go to work or the grocery store. Do a few stretches when you wake up in the morning.


Connect with your loved ones


Your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to your wellbeing. It’s an aspect of your wellbeing that is often neglected and forgotten. So, in order to have a more well balanced sense of wellbeing, try to put some energy into the relationships and people that you value most.
